The function of the magnesium rod The function of the magnesium rod is to react with the ions in the water by itself to prevent the adhesion of alkali and scale in the inner tank of the water heater and cause the inner tank to be corroded. After the electric water heater has been used for a period of time, if the water output is slow and the electricity consumption is large, it is most likely that the magnesium rod of your water heater needs to be replaced.
If the magnesium rod is not replaced, the electric water heater whose inner tank is prone to corrosion and leaking enamel tank must be replaced regularly. Because the enamel liner is made by coating and firing a layer of inorganic ceramic glaze on the special steel plate of the water heater, it does not rust and is welcomed by the majority of users. However, air bubbles or pinholes are prone to occur in the production process of enamel liner. At the same time, enamel is relatively brittle, and vibration and collision during transportation and installation are prone to scale explosion. In addition, the enamel will gradually dissolve and peel off in hot water. The above factors will cause the ordinary steel plate under the enamel coating to be exposed. The ordinary steel plate contains more impurities such as carbon and sulfur, which will easily cause the inner tank to corrode and leak.
